How to fix EA Battlefront 2 Extremely long loading times?
You don’t need to try all the solutions mentioned here. Surely, one of these fixes will be enough to improve the loading time of your game. But since it is impossible to pinpoint the exact cause behind your issue, try one solution after the other until you find the one that works for you.
Update your Windows:
Older builds of Windows are reported to feature many bugs that create issues for several applications and programs. If you are using a system running on an older build of Windows, you should update it to the latest version.
Press Windows Key + X and choose “Settings” from the list of options that show up.
In the Windows Settings page, click on “Update & Security.”
Click on the Windows Update tab on the left pane in the next window.
On the right, you will see the “Check for updates” button. Click on it.
Your computer will automatically start looking for new updates. If there are updates available, then it will start downloading and installing them.
Once the installation is complete, your Windows system will ask for a restart to complete the process. Perform the restart and then try opening up the game again. If it is still taking a lot of time to load up, try the next solution.
Update your Graphics driver:
If your dedicated GPU drivers are outdated, you will face all sorts of problems while gaming. So it would be best to keep the driver files for the graphics card always up to date. There are three ways to update your graphics driver. You can let Windows take care of it and download the latest version automatically, or you can get the latest graphics driver setup file from the manufacturer’s website, or you can use a third-party driver utility program.
To update it via Windows,
Press Windows Key + X and choose “Device Manager” from the list of options that show up.
Open up “Display adapters” by double-clicking on it.
Right-click on your dedicated graphics unit and choose “Update driver.”
Follow the on-screen instruction after that, and Windows will automatically search for the latest driver files and install them in your system if it finds anything.
To update it manually by downloading the file,
- open up your default browser and open up NVIDIA or AMD’s official website.
- Look for the option to download the setup for the latest drivers depending on the Windows version running on your computer.
- Once you download the setup file, right-click on it and choose “Run as an administrator.”
- UAC prompt will show up asking for permission. Permit it and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest graphics driver files on your computer.
To update it via a third-party driver utility program, download a third-party driver utility program. There are many programs available on the internet that scans your computer for missing and outdated driver files. Once the program detects such outdated or missing drivers, it will install the latest driver files with just a button click. These applications or programs are not free, though. So if you don’t want to get into the hassle of updating your driver files every once in a while and you don’t mind spending a few bucks, then a third-party driver utility program will take care of all your driver-related issues automatically.
Now relaunch the game. If you are still stuck on the loading screen for a long time, go for the next solution.

Increase virtual memory:
Virtual memory is a feature on Windows systems that lets programs or applications that require a high amount of memory access and use some amount of memory from the system’s hard drive. This additional memory will function as virtual memory and will be used to load the demanding applications and programs.
Systems with low RAM storage make use of this virtual memory feature effectively. Let’s look at how you can increase the virtual memory to allow more memory for Battlefront 2 to load quickly.
Click on the search bar and look for “advanced system settings.” Once it shows up in the results, open it up.
You will be in the Advanced tab of the System Properties window. Under the performance section, click on the “Settings” button.
The “Performance Options” window will show up. Here, click on Advanced and then click on the “Change” button.
Uncheck the box next to “Automatically manage paging file size for all drives” and select your C drive. Click on “Custom size.”
Enter the initial size and maximum size in the spaces provided for it. The initial size should be no less than 1.5 times the actual size of your RAM, and the maximum size should not be more than 3 times the RAM on your system.
Finally, click on Ok.
Now try relaunching the game. If you are still stuck on the loading screen for a long time, try the next solution.
Perform a clean boot:
A clean boot cleans the system and eliminates all background tasks that could interfere with Battlefront 2.
- Press Windows Key + R, and it will open up the Run dialog box.
- Enter “msconfig” in Run and press Enter.
- When the System Configuration window shows up, click on the Services tab.
- Check the box next to “Hide all Microsoft services” and click on “Disable all.”
- Now click on the startup tab on top and click on “Open Task Manager.”
- Disable all the applications that show up in the startup tab of Task Manager.
- Then close the Task Manager window. In the system configuration window, click on Apply and then click on Ok.
Now try rerunning the game. If it loads up quickly, then an application that starts when you boot the device is causing the delay. You need to uninstall that application. But if you are still stuck with a prolonged loading screen, try the next solution.
Repair game files:
Most of the time, when someone is having troubles with a game, the cause behind it is missing game files or corrupted game files. Both Steam and Origin do come with a feature that lets users check the game files’ integrity. So let’s see how you can repair your game files on both Steam and Origin.
Steam users:
- Launch the Steam application and go to your game library.
- Right-click on Battlefront 2 and select “Properties.”
- Click on the “Local Files” tab and then click on “Verify integrity of game cache.”
- This will automatically scan your game files, and if anything is missing, it will automatically download the replacement files in the destination folder.
Origin users:
- Launch the Origin application and go to your game library.
- Right-click on Battlefront 2 and select “Repair.”
- This will automatically scan your game files, and if anything is missing, it will automatically download the replacement files in the destination folder.
If performing a repair on the game files also does not improve your game loading time, go for the next solution mentioned below.
Delete temporary game files:
Some temporary files are generated when you first load the game. You can try deleting these temporary files and then check whether that improves the game loading time. These are just temporary files, and you don’t need to worry about losing your saved game or your stats in multiplayer mode.
- Click on the search bar and look for “aStar Wars Battlefront II.” Once the folder shows up in the results, open it up.
- Delete the files “CrashDumps,” “RimeTemp,” “Screenshots,” and “settings.”
Now try relaunching your game a couple of times. If, on both occasions, you are still encountering the prolonged loading screen, try the final solution mentioned below.
Edit the game’s boot options:
There are a few tweaks that you can make to the Boot options file present in the game directory to improve the loading time of your game.
- Click on the search bar and look for “aStar Wars Battlefront II.” Once the folder shows up in the results, open it up.
- Open up the “Settings” folder.
- Open up the “BootOptions” text file in Notepad and replace the text in it with the following:
GstRender.EnableDx12 0
GstRender.FullscreenEnabled 0
GstRender.FullscreenRefreshRate 60.000000
GstRender.FullscreenScreen 0
GstRender.ResolutionHeight 1080
GstRender.ResolutionWidth 1920
GstRender.WindowBordersEnable 1
- Save the file and then relaunch the game.
You should see the game running normally without any delays now.
